This award recognizes an outstanding contribution made in nuclear fuel technology and development to better sustainable nuclear development and energy production.

The CANDU Fuel Technologies Award was established in 2013 by the Canadian Nuclear Society.  The recipient will be presented with a plaque during the International Conference on CANDU Fuel.

The nominee has made significant impact and demonstrated substantial achievements in nuclear fuel development and technology, over his/her long-standing career in this industry.  These achievements include major contributions to historical and pioneering fuel designs, providing important solutions to fuel technology problems, carrying out state-of-the-art research in fuel performance and fuel safety, novel and extensive fuel experimentation, fuel performance/fuel safety code development, and leadership in the field. The nominations will be evaluated in terms of:
(i) significance or impact of the contribution;
(ii) reputation or standing of the recipient in the domestic and international fuel community;
(iii) mentorship of junior scientists and engineers; and
