The Ontario Ministry of Energy recognizes that nuclear is part of Canada’s science and innovation advantage and retaining Ontario’s nuclear expertise is crucial. This presentation will discuss the Ministry’s policy priorities for nuclear energy and explore future opportunities for innovation in the nuclear sector. The Ministry recently published a consultant’s study on the feasibility of deploying SMRs in remote off-grid mines in northern Ontario to gain a better understanding of the benefits and risks of SMR technologies.
