Abstract

The main reason the nuclear industry has not met its full potential is the negative public perception associated with it. In order to grow the industry, the discussion needs to shift from reacting to nuclear bombs and very visible disasters to getting people excited about nuclear and its potential. By holding nuclear videoconferencing outreach events for high school students, we can excite them about nuclear and entice them into the industry. A Canadian nuclear outreach event allows students to experience nuclear regardless of where they are located and attracts them into a nuclear career.
