Abstract

The Dyadyakin and Popov (1977) correlation is currently the only heat transfer correlation for fuel bundles cooled using SuperCritical Water (SCW). It was obtained using a 7-element bundle with 4 helical ribs attached from outside. Although Dyadyakin and Popov did not provide the experimental data from which they produced their heat transfer correlation, there is currently experimental data available for a 3-element bundle equipped with helical ribs cooled using SCW. The Dyadyakin and Popov (1977) correlation is to be tested using the new experimental data available for the 3-element bundle to determine if it can accurately model its heat transfer.
