In August 2010 Hydro-Québec decided to postpone the start of refurbishment work of Gentilly 2 reactor. This decision was made in the context of problems met at the refurbishment projects of Point Lepreau and Wolsung.

Following this decision, the Gentilly 2 Life Cycle Management Plans of the major components had to be revised. In less than six months, assessments have been reviewed and allowed the updating of LCMPs. Following these updates, work has been planned for the 2011 shutdown for allowing operation beyond 196 000 EFPH.

Finally, work has been performed as prescribed in LCMPs. The preliminary results are within the assessments limits. The safe operation of Gentilly 2 can be performed until the new date of refurbishment.
