Abstract

It is more accurate to predict the critical heat flux (CHF) from the start of churn flow rather than the

start of annular flow. High-speed photography has been employed for qualitative investigation of

entrainment in vertical two-phase flow under churn flow condition. This paper mainly focuses on

the evolution of the flooding waves close to the water inlet section and liquid distribution in the

cross-section of tube. The properties of flooding wave such as frequency and amplitude have been

obtained.
