Canada joins first-ever nuclear energy summit

Team Canada stands tall at Nuclear Energy Summit 2024

How can it be that in the 70 years since Eisenhower made his Atoms for Peace speech, up until last week there had never been a global summit on nuclear power?

In the first ever Nuclear Energy Summit, held Belgium last week, Canada joined 31 countries to pledge support for the critical role of nuclear power in ensuring a sustainable and secure clean energy transition. Despite nuclear having played a major part in the clean energy systems of many countries around the world, including Canada, France, and the United States, this was the first global nuclear energy summit ever held with national leaders and heads of state.
