Title:   An Overview of Molten Salt Reactor Technology and Terrestrial Energy

Speaker:   Dr. David LeBlanc, President and Chief Technology Officer, Terrestrial Energy

Summary:  A historical and technical background in Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) technology will be presented which will highlight the unique features of MSRs and some of the various potential design pathways including thermal or fast spectrums along with breeder, burner or converter options.  The modern landscape will be appraised which range from National programs to numerous new potential vendors where MSR have led the way in terms of private sector interest in developing needed Generation IV nuclear technology.   Finally the efforts of Terrestrial Energy and its development of the Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) as a home grown Canadian technology building upon the foundation of the great work done in the early era of nuclear power development.
